ADAI is proud to announce this years Indy 500 "Milk People"...
Every year, the American Dairy Association Indiana selects two dairy farmers to promote milk at the Indianapolis 500. The Milk People conduct numerous interviews, including having ESPN follow them into the track on race day. At the end of the race, the senior Milk Person hands the famous Bottle of Milk to the winning driver. The Rookie Milk Person gets bottles to the winning team owner and winning chief mechanic.
This year, the Senior Milk Man is Joe Kelsay, of Whiteland,Indiana. Joe and his family milk around 450 cows in central Indiana, just south of Indianapolis. Their farms hosts over 20,000 visitors each year through school field trips and a month-long agritourism season. Joe and his family farm are proud members and sponsors of IDP and he was recognized in 2008 as the IDP Young Producer of the Year.
The Rookie Milk Woman is Kim Minich of Laporte, Indiana.Kim and her husband Luke were previously recognized in 2015 as IDP's Outstanding Young Dairy Producers. Kim has hit the ground running her Rookie year and is ready for her first media tour.
Look out for the Milk People during their media tour day (May 16), on race day, and throughout the Month of May on sports radio and news stations. Winners drink milk!
