
Gritty Rice Crust
This makes a good crust for a savory filling. If you'd like, add a teaspoon of dried herbs or some grated soy cheese to the crust.
1-1/2 cups prepared Gritty Rice
2 egg whites, lightly beaten
Preheat the oven to 400°.
Combine the Gritty Rice and egg whites in a mixing bowl. Press onto the bottom and up the sides of a nonstick or lightly oiled 9" pie pan.
Bake at 400° for 15 minutes, until set and starting to turn golden. Remove from oven and fill with a savory pie or quiche filling and bake according to the recipe.
Yield: one 9" crust Serving size: 1/8 of crust
